Our theme today is to follow Father. And also, as we said, it is a memorial day for Brij Mohan Bhai. He was also in knowledge during Brahma Baba’s time, and he had a good job in Nangal when the first big dam was being built, and he got a job there. So, from the very beginning, he thought that he had to surrender and serve. He was very, very charitable. I have known him since the very beginning because I had finished my graduation around the same time that he did his B.Com. So, we did a lot of service together. But his nature was very light and jovial. Whenever any serious matter would arise, he would turn it into a joke. He came to New York many times. The last time he came, one brother had to take food for his journey, but he took Brij Mohan Bhai along instead of taking food. We said something, but he turned it into a very light comment. And in so many situations, he was very sensible. The way he would advise, so his understanding. His actions were based on knowing Baba and following Baba’s Shrimat. Because we all listen to knowledge, but how do we make sense of it? How we do, what we have to do based on knowledge that includes an understanding of karma, knowledge of Shrimat, and every subject is covered in the Murli. And, of course, Brahma Baba was the example. So, he definitely followed Brahma Baba. Because he was an accountant and a lawyer, when we had to write the constitution or do anything of that sort, he was very, very clear about it. We definitely miss him for many things. But when the part has to change, there is no reason and no excuse. Right after Nirvair Bhai, we thought he would be the one, but he also did not play that part for a long time. We definitely think of him with love and respect and remember the role he played in the Yagya for so many years. So, on this day, we should all also remember these two words: “Follow the Father.” When Baba left and became Avyakt, whenever any Dadi had to do something, she would first think, “What would Baba have done? What would Baba have done?” Those were the only words I heard: “Baba kya karta? Baba hota toh kya karta?” — “What would Baba do? What would Baba have done if he were here?” That means they also followed the Father. And because we kept hearing that, for me, Brahma Baba would immediately emerge in my mind whenever I had to do something: “What would Baba have done?” So, following the Father has become our tradition, right? The title for today is “Follow the Father.” Those who are free from the knowledge of desires for themselves, Baba says they are also unending donors are the ones who uplift others. If you have your own desires, right, you cannot be an unlimited, consistent donor. It is only when you are free from your own desires that you can uplift others. The Father gave His own time for service. He Himself was humble, gave respect to the children, and said, “Children first.” Although the work was in the children’s names, Baba says it was his work but he would always name children. He would renounce any recognition for himself for the work that he did. Even through his name, he became someone who uplifted others. Follow the Father in the same way, because if you have your own desires, you will not be able to uplift others. These are little points to churn during the day. How will being free from desires, and having an ignorance of desires, help me uplift others? Sometimes, self-interest comes into play: “What will I get? What will I receive?” “I” is always there. But if you want to uplift someone, you have to look at that person’s needs, not your own.
So, it is very subtle.
Om Shanti
