How many of you have done bhakti? Everyone, goddesses, you worship goddesses. In bhakti there are many different aspects. One is devotion, right? Other part is philosophy and third is worshipping because to do anything with devotion they call it bhakti. Devotion is good actually. But then as Baba said that from Copper Age bhakti began and there was only worshipping of one Shiva. No, Baba mentioned that it's a very big size in Kashmir, Shivling, very, very big, 9 ft, 10 ft. So they say that, you know, even when it comes to religions, the branches, one of the branches also of Shankaracharya in which they say world is a dream, it's illusion, there is no world, anything like, you know, distaste, vairagya. So one path was of vairagya, Shankara. But other path was worshipping of deities. But then as gradually souls start becoming more and more rajo then tamo, Baba says now even they worship bodies, right? Touching the feet of guru and doing everything which is very much of elements more. So bhakti was also sato bhakti, then rajo bhakti, then tamo bhakti, and at present there is intense bhakti, but it is more like rituals, lot of rituals they believe. But then as Baba says that bhakti, then vairagya, then gyan. Bhakti also has some good vibrations.
There was a time like in our family we had all size of thakur, all big size, full size, small, and we used to every night before sleeping we will sing aarti every night. And then there were blankets and for those thakurs, idols, they will sleep and then in the morning. So it was living with them as if lived with those idols and I think, I mean, I used to feel very good. So when we came in gyan then gradually you don't, you don't want to worship, don't have that feeling. So what to do? So we gave those idols to different temples because if you have a metal idol, copper or silver, you have to worship. So you cannot like a single day leave them without changing clothes. And so we put them in beautiful suitcases and took them to Haridwar. We all went and it's like you get attached to them also. They are leaving home. We felt they are leaving home. So one side we stopped bhakti, but other side there was that feeling for them. You know, like some people they have dogs, they have cats, they are really, really attached to them, right? So bhakti also has become tamopradhan but there was satopradhan bhakti of one Shiva. And it's such interesting thing that every god, goddess was created by god to kill a particular devil. Like one particular kind of devils were doing violence. So then God created Shakti. Now this goddess had to kill that devil. It's very interesting to see every goddess was meant to kill one of the devils. Devils were also very violent. So it's only goddess could kill them. So many stories, right? So Baba is saying now.
So we talked a little bit about Mama and I think that, you know, parents, mother and father, they both give sustenance, mothers give different kind of sustenance and father give different sustenance. But first they also call mother guru because first most of the contact is with the mother. So mother gives good sanskars if she gives right. So it's very interesting the role of what father does in the life and what mother does and we saw it Brahma Baba's role and Mama's role in our spiritual life. So you must be thinking you should have been with Baba, mumma right? Yeah, want to be with Baba next kalpa. We will ask Baba. Yeah, I think we are, at least I feel we were very fortunate to be with Baba, to be with mumma. Baba must be giving some feelings to all of you, right? You get.
So Baba is saying , benevolent drishti, to uplift even those who defame you, as those who even defame you, is the duty of a knowledgeable soul. What we have to do is be benevolent with even those who defame you. Father Baba says even those who defame you, with benevolent drishti. What Brahma Baba went through, no one of us, because from very beginning when Baba began, in the beginning few years was very good. A lot of souls will come in the morning, was satsang. But as soon as then topic of purity began and these kanyas will live pure life and purity in the family, that's where lot of opposition began. Even people of the world, Baba says have mercy for those who have mercy. So Baba says that devotees also have that mercy. However, to be a knowledgeable soul means to have feelings of benefit for everyone and not to have slightest thought of causing a loss to anyone. Only when you have feelings of benevolence, that is kalyankari, then what happens? Mercy and upliftment for those who defame you, you will be said to be a world benefactor.
Here, are you able to tolerate your criticism or you feel bad? You feel bad. Why? Why somebody has to say this? I haven't done this. I am not this, you know, but that is where your honesty, your self-respect, criticism, defamation, unnecessary comments. But we have to remain our kalyan ki bhavna. That's what Baba said, the day he became avyakt, that those who defame you are your good friends, right? Is it practical? Yes, you can. Because we have to see really so how much Brahma Baba went through many, many comments, many, many, especially like dadis they were young, they start coming. Baba, everything he began was after the age of 60 and he had his five children, his wife, right? He was a family person.
Dadi Prakashmani used to say, you know, when foreigners came, so they will go to market, one brother, one sister. Dadi Prakashmani said, no, you couldn't go, shouldn't go like that because first thought everyone will have is negative, is body-conscious thought. And that drishti on you is not good. And it took time but then they start understanding. Like we have until now, if I have to go, I am still 80 plus, but until now sisters won't go, one sister, one brother in the car. So we keep two brothers or two sisters. We keep maryada because it's also a very royal family, so there are maryadas. So we try to follow even in foreign country whether you go for service or anywhere, shopping is never like one brother, one sister. Some people have why this, why this, but I think it's very, very good, very royal way. No, we belong to royal family. So no ordinary sanskars of body consciousness. But then now we know we are god goddesses, right? Especially kanyas have to remember we are being worshipped from today, right? So have Drishti of upliftment for everyone.
