TO remain constantly Cheerful, be easy-Natured and tolerant #19

Om Shanti

Do you always remain cheerful? If you say “yes,” then you will become that too, won't you? A warm welcome to everyone at Peace Village. All of you have come from very far away. One of our sisters has come from South Africa. She has traveled so much. So, a very warm welcome to all of you. Practice here that you always remain cheerful. Look at one another and smile. This is our treasure, isn't it? So, Baba asks again: What is needed to remain constantly cheerful? Simplicity, knowledge-full. For many days we have been hearing the word “simple.” I remember that in childhood we used to sing a prayer. In it, in English, we would say, “God, give me a serene nature.” In English, they used the word “serene.” And now, when Baba repeatedly says “simple,” it is necessary to have a good intellect, a very good intellect, but what is important is simplicity. Thinking this way and that way, collecting all kinds of thoughts—such useless thoughts do not continue in one who has a simple mind. Just think: when your mind is simple, then all the obstacles in your path also disappear. Yesterday Baba said that in two days everything will become easy. The more we think, “Why will this happen? What if that happens? What if it does not happen?”—all those become obstacles. So, with a simple mind, everything will become easy. If there is simplicity, then there is tolerance. It is not a matter of saying, “What can I do? I cannot tolerate that person's nature or sanskars.” What do you have to do in this?

Your own sanskars and your own nature should remain simple. But there are many souls whose nature is not simple because there is no realization. Look, today we are sitting here. This is Baba’s unlimited Yagya. It is a sacred place. It is an instrument for spreading peace in the world. Therefore, if we have any sanskars that are not appropriate according to Baba’s rules and disciplines, then we should transform them. Any habit whatsoever—Baba has mentioned this once or twice before in the Murli. It is a small matter. Toli is not such a big thing. As much as you want can be obtained. But going yourself, opening the cupboard where the Toli is kept, and taking even one piece—Baba used to say that this is not a good sanskar. There is no shortage. The Toli will be available. There is a small story about this. A sister was expecting about eight guests. She prepared eight blessing cards and eight pieces of Toli on a plate and covered it, keeping it aside. Another sister happened to pass by. She saw something covered, opened it, and looked. You know, sometimes it is a natural tendency. She saw it and thought, “Oh, this looks very nice,” and put one in her mouth. So, she took one. Later, when the guests arrived and the sister came back, she saw that one Toli was missing. That created a difficulty for her. That is why nowadays people write, “These fruits are for Bhog; please do not touch them.” What does one not receive in Baba’s home? The point is that this too is a sanskar. The hand immediately reaches out and the item goes straight into the mouth. It is considered a normal habit and not thought of as bad. Nowadays here we say, “Wait, don’t taste it yet. Bhog has not yet been offered. First, it will be offered to Baba, and then it will be distributed to everyone.” So, these are some sanskars and small habits that have developed. They may continue in a worldly family, but when we come into the Yagya, everything is received in abundance. Even so, following our disciplines is very important.

When taking food, we say, “The servers are very generous,” and they put a lot on our plate. Then we cannot finish it and think, “What should we do? Let’s throw it away.” Throwing away food—Brahma Bhojan, food from Baba’s kitchen—causes the Lord, nature, and all those who prepared it to become displeased. Baba would also say that every single grain of food in the Yagya has value. Then there are the five elements through which grains and fruits are produced. They too observe and think, “This person is wasting it. There is no respect for me.” Even those who prepared the food notice this. So, we say: when food is being served, take only as much as you need. If you are still hungry, come and take more. No one is stopping you. Take a second serving. Do not waste. Baba has established many such small disciplines in the Yagya. We should follow them with love. Otherwise, those habits become sanskars. If there is any object that you like, simply ask for it. Say that you would like it and you will receive it. It is not that whenever we feel like it, we simply take it ourselves. That is not how it should be. The feeling behind this is that the sanskars and nature Baba speaks about are often considered normal habits. But when we come to Baba, they do not reflect royalty. This is a royal, pure, love-filled family. Within it, we should keep our sanskars very royal. We are here for two or three days now. There should be considerable transformation in us. If there is something in our nature, some habit in our sanskars, it should change.  So, what is Baba saying today? Be knowledge-full and have a simple nature. Baba says that among the children who have renounced everything—not just renouncers, but those who have renounced all possessions—the main qualities that will always be present are simplicity and tolerance. So, take your number in this, right? These qualities should always be there. Baba says such children always remain cheerful.

Our Dadi Prakashmani was very cheerful. Dadi remained very cheerful because she was simple. So, Baba says that those who are simple remain cheerful, and such people remain loving toward one another. There is no conflict with anyone, no differences. Can anyone take this certificate? Raise your hand and say yes. I am also doing so. Why collide with anyone? Look on the road today—there are Hondas, Toyotas, and Mercedes. Everyone is driving their own vehicle. So, why should they crash into one another? They avoid collisions, don't they? This too is a very great certificate, one that raises your status—that this soul has no opposition toward anyone, has never argued. Such people remain loving toward one another. So, Baba says that if there is no simplicity, then there is no love either.

Baba says that in the corporeal form we saw this. What did we see? Baba remembers. In the corporeal form we saw that the more knowledge-full someone was, the simpler their nature was. Because ego is very subtle. Ego arises: “I am very good at this. I know this very well.” This subtle ego—Baba says—it should not exist. The more knowledge-full you become, the simpler your nature should become. So, Baba says, whether someone is a child or an elder, what should be present is childlike innocence. Just as a child naturally has a simple nature, take this blessing from Baba. Baba says, “This is what I do—that my nature remains simple.” Be intelligent, but also discerning. I tell everyone: everyone has intelligence, but not everyone has discernment. The more discerning you become, the greater your power of judgment will be. So, have a simple nature and also be discerning.

Now we will sit for two or three minutes. Sit with the awareness of your original and eternal nature and sanskars.

Om Shanti
