Om Shanti

Happy Satguruvaar to everyone.

Today was a very different, beautiful meeting with Baba. Baba is really not only pulling the intellect to be with Him, but also bringing us closer and closer to Him. I know there are some souls who keep saying, "Oh, Baba doesn't come anymore." Some say, "I don't experience Baba." Yes, we were adopted as children. Today Baba said that we are friends, but also companions. We are not just children. About 90 years ago, when the Dadis came, they were all very young. But then Baba made us His instruments. Why did He come? What did He do? And what does He want to accomplish now? So, it becomes the responsibility of each one of us that we become not only powerful, but worthy, divine, and companions of God in His task. So, it felt as if Baba was talking about Brahma's thousands of arms. We are Baba's arms. We are Baba's hands and arms. Why do we need to sing the praise of all the ancestor souls? Because the foundation of the Yagya, the beginning of the Yagya, required a lot of flame, a lot of sacrifice. It is like a fire. When you ignite a fire, then gradually you fan it and keep increasing the flame. And for that flame to continue for 90 years. When I think—and most of you have heard, some of you have met Didi—there is also a book about every original jewel. There was a time when we used to sit and read those stories: how Didi, especially being married and belonging to a very prominent family, well known in the Sindhi community. In those days, daughters-in-law and daughters had many Maryadas. If she had to go out, then one of the maids or someone had to accompany her. They never allowed young girls, or even married women, to just walk out alone. There were many Maryadas. So, when Didi started going to the Yagya, it created quite an upheaval—not only in the family but in the whole community. Actually, it was her mother, Queen Mother, who was very beautiful and very delicate, and she was the one who brought Didi. Then Queen Mother decided, "I have to be at the Yagya. I cannot remain at home." It was quite an upheaval, but there was great sacrifice. Those souls were so accustomed to having servants, particular types of food, and a very gentle lifestyle. They simply left home without worrying about who would feed them, what they would get to eat, or what kind of people would be around them. There was just so much spiritual intoxication. She came with her mother. Many times, many family members came to take both of them back. Didi had another sister called Sheel Indra. She was in Bombay. Baba used to call her the "Governor of Bombay" because whatever needed to be done for the Yagya, she would get it done. Then, especially after Partition, the family came to Bombay. They got one or two apartments, and one was right on the ocean at Marine Drive. I went there many times. Didi would be there. Her mother was there. Didi spent more time in the Yagya because her mother had become quite old. Even her children were very much against it, like Didi's brother. But still, they arranged a very beautiful place for her in Bombay. Whenever we visited Bombay, they would invite us for lunch or breakfast.

But then there was the sacrifice. When I think of our life, I think, yes, it is sacrifice, but it is more renunciation. Yes, there was sacrifice, but as we became comfortable, we kept moving forward. Today somebody was asking me, "How long did it take you to surrender?" I said, "Baba didn't want me to surrender immediately. He wanted me to study for five or six years." During those years, I was doing different services—writing for them, representing them, doing a lot of service while still staying at home. Then a time came when there was so much need in different places. I traveled all over India. Then one day, when I was over 50 years old, after traveling often to the East—Singapore, Belgium and other places—I came to the West. Didi Manmohini kept us not only in a good life of Maryadas, but also gave very clear directions: what had to be done and how it had to be done. I remember many of her short teachings—we called them mantras. She would give us short instructions: "Do this, do this, do this." She always said, "Be not only an image of knowledge, but an image of blessings. You are a goddess. What do you have to do? Give blessings to everyone." She was a very beautiful, powerful, and very loving soul. That is my experience of her. But there was also a lot of sacrifice. So, the homework for tomorrow is: become an embodiment of knowledge. Make the pilgrimage of remembrance especially powerful. What is remembrance? There is loving remembrance, and then there is powerful remembrance. What is the difference? Churn on that. Become experienced.

Become an embodiment of knowledge, because the more we use knowledge, the better and better our remembrance will become. The points of knowledge help us increase our love for Baba, our faith in Baba, and make our remembrance very powerful. Become an embodiment of knowledge. Baba says that the pure and benevolent attitude of you elevated souls, together with your powerful atmosphere, will give souls what they need. So, what is service? Service is giving souls the experience of Baba—the experience of blessings, the experience of peace, and the experience of power. To the desperate souls, to the wandering souls, Baba says they are calling out. They are calling for blessings, peace, power, and love. So, through your elevated and powerful attitude, you are serving, because your attitude will create the atmosphere, and they will be able to receive what they are calling for. So, increase your pilgrimage of remembrance. Make it powerful.

Om Shanti
