We are still in the midst of celebrating the Navratri festival, and today is the sixth day. If you look at the picture of Durga or any goddess, there is a contrast between what they hold in their hands. They have weapons, but they also have ornaments. There are weapons like swords and many other weapons, such as the trident. Then there are ornaments like coins and the Sudarshan Chakra. So, weapons are also needed in our lives. These are weapons of knowledge to destroy anything that is negative. In the beginning, we used to say, "The sword of knowledge and the shield of drama." There are different weapons so that we can destroy evil, because the purpose for which each goddess was created was to destroy the devil. There are different names, but we will not go into the details of the devil. There is a particular devil, and it is shown that Brahma, Vishnu, and Shankar all decided that the goddess had to be created. So, this is what Baba says: Children have knowledge, but not enough power. One uses knowledge as a sword to destroy anything coming from Maya, anything coming from Ravan. But you must also adorn yourself. So, it is not only about destroying evil but also inculcating divine virtues. That is why they are called alankars, or ornaments, such as the Sudarshan Chakra.Vishnu has ornaments, and the goddess has both. Vishnu is not shown with weapons in the same way as Goddess Durga. She has so much power that she is shown riding on a lion. The lion is the most violent animal. Sometimes, look at that picture and see that Baba has given us all the weapons. We have to protect ourselves and destroy evil. We also have to protect ourselves because Maya takes different forms. Some forms are dangerous, while others are very sweet. Attachment is very sweet. Greed is very sweet. It comes in a very loving way, whether in the form of attractions or distractions. So, Maya comes in very different forms. Sometimes, these forms are very fearsome and make you scared, right?
But, Baba’s children, when you have that image of the goddess, you use the weapons to destroy evil and also adopt all the ornaments. We have to become virtuous. So, Baba said that you have to serve without limits. Just imagine people of all religions, all colors, and all languages. There are so many people, and we can only serve them through the mind.
So today, Baba is telling us about the qualities required to serve through the mind. In order to serve through your mind, Baba says, constantly have elevated and altruistic thoughts for everyone. That means one should develop this nature. Every thought should be elevated and altruistic. It is not just a question of thinking about everyone; it is a question of ensuring that every single thought is elevated and altruistic. So, Baba says that you should always have this attitude. It is not about whatever we are thinking for others. The first thought is for your own self. And have the motivation of uplifting everyone. "May everyone benefit," right? Always maintain your elevated power of uplifting those who defame you. Those who are against you—when you can make them friendly, it is very joyful, right? I remember that in the beginning, when we started, there was a lot of opposition, a lot of opposition. So, we used to feel like, "Okay, go to them and serve them," because if you are serving through your mind, you have nothing against anyone, right? So, then it is okay, right? I remember I used to go to those who were very much in opposition and talk to them, and I would enjoy it. Because when they change, you know, anyone I know who is against us and is very stubborn, I would create a relationship with them and make them very friendly. So, Baba says that you should always have this feeling of uplifting everyone. Always maintain, Baba says, your elevated power of uplifting those who defame you. Always have the feeling that you are a bestower. I have to give. I don't want anything, right? Transform yourself. Baba says, keep your actions elevated. Transform yourself and keep your actions elevated. "What do I have to do?" What you have to do is not determined by what someone else does to you. You should always perform elevated actions, regardless of what others do to you. And thereby, Baba says, inspire others also to perform elevated actions. If you think of uplifting them, they will also start doing it, even if they do not do. So, in this way, what happens is that, like yesterday, I always tell Bhoomi, "Why do you want everyone to come?" And she said, "Oh, blessings!" She said, "I want everyone to bless us." That is a thought that sometimes requires sacrifice, but it is very worthwhile. Because if someone is having wasteful thoughts, it will affect you. If someone has an attitude about something concerning you, that affects you. So, to protect ourselves, we need everyone's good wishes and everyone's blessings. No one should be annoyed. So, always, always think: "How do I have to receive blessings from everyone?" So, we have to serve and keep everyone happy in order to receive blessings.
Om Shanti
