Om Shanti! They say student life is the best life, but some don’t want to study. However, our whole career, our future, our fortune depends on how we study. So when we come to Baba, this is our second opportunity to be a child again, to be a student again. We have  responsibilities, we have a big sister or mother, or big brother, but now again we have children. Just this awareness that every morning we wake up, we say good morning to our parents: Baba and Mamma, so I am a child, then a student. One of the most important qualities is to learn. Don’t think: I know everything, I am clever. I have good intellect. It’s very important just to constantly learn. When you have this nature or speciality of learning, then your quality, your qualification, keeps increasing. So when we are given any task of any type of service, you are able to perform it. I remember I came to Baba as a young teenager, didn’t know much, but of course there was a lot of interest to study, to remain current with everything, not to stay with the past. Some might say that I did want to study, but it doesn’t seem to be in my fortune, it’s not my destiny. 

There is always this question of what comes first, effort or destiny? What comes first? I would say effort, but then they say if you are not destined, you won’t be able to make an effort, but still, first comes effort and then fruition. As Mamma said, “You have to do good actions, you cannot just sit and say, it’s not in my fortune to do good actions.” It is right that sometimes you have the ability to do something, some kind of seva, you have the ability, but you don’t get the thought to do it. Sometimes you look at a particular soul, this soul has so many qualities, why can’t he use it for Baba’s seva, but won’t make the time, won’t get thought to do service. So in life, effort is always there. Some karma from the past can stop you from making a good quality effort. They say if you just look at the mango say that it will come to me. You have to shake the tree, cut it with a knife and then you will get it. Effort is life,  destiny depends on effort also. My effort will match my destiny. I know that we use the words more fortunate, less fortunate. We never say unfortunate. So yes, there is destiny; sometimes it does not allow you to do something, or maybe you are not successful. But you cannot give up. Try, keep doing it and it will happen. Some give up very quickly, some keep doing, knowing that someday it will happen. It is very interesting that Mamma said not to just say destiny, but very important to make an effort, be a good student. 

Life is really a study, what happens, how do I grow, what is currently needed? It is very good as a student to keep learning, keeps you very happy, because your intellect is constantly creative. Inner happiness really comes from your quality of thought and intellect. I am studying, I am churning, experimenting, or sharing with others, and constantly serving. Baba is saying today, spread the waves of happiness. I connect happiness with study, and with learning. There is so much joy in learning, doing simple things like planting, watering grass, or anything. Learn and keep doing things and you will be happy. So Baba says that let your every thought and word be special. Constantly have an easy nature. Easy nature means simple. Baba says to get everything from One. Have an easy practice of constantly being stable. Baba says to remain constantly happy, then distribute happiness. Baba says to have the nature of happiness, spread the waves of happiness. Baba says, “Being this way and spreading the waves of happiness is real service.” So we give gyan, we give knowledge and happiness. If it is knowledge that is understood, you will be happy. Everything will work out in a beautiful way when we have happiness. We have to be happy because the knowledge that we are receiving, the lifestyle, discipline, everything we are doing in life is elevated. We are moving towards the elevated stage.
